Booking and Cancellation Policies
Booking: The earlier you book, the better chance we can accommodate you. Our one-day sails can usually be booked a few days in advance, and sometimes even on the same day. In the summer months however, don’t count on it. Overnight cruises should be booked well in advance.
Booking: A minimum deposit of 25% is required to confirm space on all overnight sailing courses and adventures, as well as Module A and B Basic Cruising Courses. The balance will be due 60 days prior to the departure date. Full payment is required to confirm space on one-day sails, courses and Exclusive Half-Day Adventures.
Cancellation Policy for Overnight Adventures and courses including Module A and B courses: If you cancel your booking more than 60 days prior to departure you will be refunded 90% of the total fees paid. If you cancel within 30 – 60 days prior to departure, you will be refunded 50% of the fees paid. If you cancel less than 30 days before an overnight trip there is no refund. Note there will be no refund for materials previously issued. They are yours to keep.
Replacement: In the event of an overnight trip cancellation (including Module A and B courses) where the client does not qualify for a 90% refund, and another person is found to replace that spot, Blackfish Sailing Adventures will issue a 75% refund minus any materials previously issued.
Cancellation Policy for Day Sails or Day Courses: If you cancel your booking for a Day Sail or an Introduction to Sailing course more than 30 days prior to departure you will be refunded 90% of the total fee paid. If you cancel less than 30 days prior to departure, there is no refund.
Cancellation due to weather: It happens rarely, but if the cancellation is due to extreme weather and therefore the fault of no one, we will try to reschedule to a convenient time for both parties (for no extra charge). If that is not possible due to scheduling problems then you will receive a full refund minus 5% for banking and processing fees.
The decision for weather cancellation will be made by a representative of Blackfish Sailing Adventures on the day in question. The main consideration will be based on safety due to extreme weather and not, for example, it is just cloudy with showers.
Keep in mind, we would not go out knowing that the conditions present a serious threat to those aboard.
Payment: We accept e-Transfer, cash, personal check, Master Card, Visa PayPal and Debit. Most products can be purchased online HERE. Please confirm availability before purchasing.
Note that all prices are in Canadian dollars and are subject to a 5% tax.
In the event of Disruption of Overnight Trips – Adventures and Courses: If, for example, the boat has a catastrophic break down or the skipper/instructor becomes incapacitated to the point that the trip will have to be discontinued, then Blackfish Sailing Adventures will ensure at their cost that there is adequate and suitable compensation for the passengers, students or guests. This will include transportation to the nearest or appropriate port and suitable accommodation which would replace the accommodation that would have been provided for the duration of the trip. It will also include the replacement of meals that were originally planned for the duration of the trip. In addition, there will be a refund of the trip fees covering the duration of the trip from the time of the disruption.
