A Lesson in Sail Trim

When sailing close hauled or reaching, point the leading edge of the sail into the wind. It allows the wind to split and flow evenly on each side of the sail. This creates a lifting force on the outside of the sail due to the difference in pressure between the inside and the outside of the sail. You know you have it right when the tell-tales on each side are flying horizontally.
